With Pacesetters, you can try to conquer our 60-foot Alpine Tower, paddle the beautiful mountain lakes of the Southern Appalachians, go on an exciting day hike to learn about natural history, or opt for a longer adventure by foot, rope, or paddle. We take quality and safety seriously, and our staff is prepared to offer you a challenging, memorable, and exciting taste of the region’s natural delights. At our Adventure Center we offer custom programs tailored to any group’s needs. Our 60-foot Alpine Tower, climbing wall, and Giant Swing offer a safe challenge for any age and ability. Scaling these elements leaves participants with a sense of renewed confidence, trust for their teammates, not to mention a nice dose of adrenaline! Our trained instructors will help you push your comfort zones and surprise yourself with your squirrel-like climbing abilities that you never knew you had. Add to the adventure by taking on a challenging low-ropes course and teambuilding program with a skilled facilitator who will help you learn the skills required to work well with others through improving your communication, trust, and problem-solving abilities. And while you’re there, why not hone your golf swing at our driving range, camp out at our rustic cabins, and go for a refreshing dip, tube, or paddle on the meandering Valley River which borders the center? The Adventure Center offers an excellent day long adventure, or quaint, rustic, accommodations for a multi-day retreat for your youth group, Boy Scout troop, or other group who could benefit from a beautiful natural setting sprinkled with a dash of adventure! Ever launched a rubber chicken with a water balloon slingshot or gotten through a giant spiderweb with the help of your friends? Have our instructors design a custom teambuilding progression to meet your group’s needs! Are your students having trouble working through conflict? Is there a culture of distrust that is inhibiting your youth group from really connecting? Could your Boy Scout troop use a good lesson on communication skills? By creating an innovative teambuilding progression using challenging and fun problem-solving activities and low-ropes elements, our instructors can help your group improve its ability to work together and become a better functioning community. Day Hikes
Coming from out of town and don’t know where to start exploring the breathtaking Southern Appalachians? Our instructors have hiked these hills for years and are so excited to introduce this beautiful region to newcomers. Have us guide you through the incredible Old Growth of Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, check out the gorgeous waterfalls of Panthertown, or soak in the stunning views from Wayah Bald. Our instructors will pepper your walk with interesting cultural and natural history, as well as ensuring that you stay safe, don’t get lost, and have fun! Looking for more than a day trip? Make use of our rustic camping facilities that allow you to chill out by the campfire after a day filled with adventures. Our 4 screened cabins provide excellent 3-season camping and our bathroom facilities are conveniently located just 50 yards away. If cabins are too luxurious for your liking, feel free to bring your own tent! Fall asleep to the sounds of the Valley River as you enjoy the relaxing rhythms of the Appalachians and the high adventure of our 44 acre adventure center.
